Dining Table Legs And Bases Provide The Foundation For Style

When you stop and think about it, tabletops come in a somewhat limited variety of shapes and styles. After all, the nature of their work requires they be flat. They can be: round, square, oval, rectangular and, if you're stretching a bit, octagonal or maybe crescent shaped. Still, they are all flat and without some of the dynamic styles and shapes in which we can find dining table legs and bases, we'd be hard pressed to call any particular one "stylish". Fortunately, the legs and the bases do exist and their function, while defined by their purpose, as well, allows a little more room for creativity in design.

Let's take a tabletop. We'll make it a round one. It can be wooden, glass, tile or whatever sort of material you like. Now, let's play a game where we change out the dining table legs and bases on this tabletop to create new looks. For starters, lets try different leg styles. Cabriole legs would make it sort of elegant while shaker-style straight legs would lend it simplistic lines. Ornately carved legs might give it a gothic style. The same works when we use bases, turning it into a pedestal style table. The popular Roman or Grecian column base would make it very cosmopolitan while a hand carved wooden base on the woodsy side would ensure it got a rustic description. So, it's easy to see with this one example that it's not always what' s on the top that makes the table suit the décor.
